The twentieth session of the Israeli Knesset, which lasted from May 7, 2015 to January 1, 2019, witnessed an unprecedented Wave of Occupation, Settlement -Supportive and Racist legislations. The twentieth Knesset dealt with 221 laws within this framework, of which 35 were passed in the final reading, in addition to six laws which were incorporated into those laws, which effectively means that 41 laws have been (legally enacted). There are still two bills in the agenda of the Knesset, in the first reading stage, which are to continue in the legislation process of the new parliamentary term.
With the advent of midterm elections in the USA in November 2018, increasing voices in Israel are warning against the consequences of deepening the divide between Israel and the Democratic Party. Prime Minister Netanyahu is consolidating his alliance with extremist Evangelical Christians, including leaders and proponents of the Republican Party. According to Netanyahu, these are ardent supporters of Israel and Israeli regional policy, particularly towards the question of Palestine and its settlement.
More than anything else, Israeli media reports have consistently suggested that the current stage is one of an outright confrontation between Israel and Iran.
Over the three years of its parliamentary session, the Knesset enacted a total of 185 racist laws in support of the occupation and settlement activity.
A total of 32 bills were approved in the final reading. These included 26 separate laws. Six bills were included as provisions under four of the 26 approved laws.
