Approved in the final reading, a bill allows revocation of the permanent residency status of residents of Jerusalem and Golan Heights on grounds of carrying out an operation or engaging in political activity

Adopted Laws

On Monday, 5 March 2018, the Knesset Plenum approved in the final reading the reinstatement of an emergency order. To be converted into an article of a permanent law, namely the Law on Entry into Israel, the law provides for increasing the punishment and fine against every person who employs or provides a shelter to a “foreign national” without a permit. The law also vests police officers in the area to issue an order, prohibiting the use of the place of residence of the concerned person.

Every year, the Knesset used to extend the said article as an emergency order. The penalty amounts to imprisonment for four years and a fine up to ILS 10,000 ($ 2,8000) against individuals and ILS 40,000 ($ 11,200) against companies.

In contrast with 14 MKs, a total of 63 MKs voted in favour of the bill.
