Ramallah – In a seminar held by the Palestinian Forum for Israeli Studies (MADAR) at its office in Ramallah, participants asserted that the next Israeli election round on 17 September would be decisive for Benjamin Netanyahu. Not only does it have a bearing on his potential prosecution for corruption, but it also would be critical for Netanyahu to complete his political project of “Greater Israel.” Netanyahu has already promised to “establish Jewish sovereignty” and include settlement outposts in the annexation project. He has gone on military adventures that have the potential to trigger a war.

Election results are particularly dangerous as they coincide with a favourable international environment and dwindling Arab support to Palestinians.

The right wing enjoys almost invariable support from its grassroots. Mobility is taking place between parties within the right wing. The stock of centre-left votes is limited.

Ramallah: The Strategic Report 2019 of the Palestinian Forum for Israeli Studies (MADAR) concluded that the next stage would see a shift towards annexing settlements to Israel’s sovereignty, accelerating settlement expansion, inhibiting the prospects of Palestinian statehood, and limiting a solution with Palestinians to remaining Israeli facts on the ground. According to MADAR Strategic Report 2019, the upcoming period will also involve an expedited action to bolster the national Jewish identity of the state at the expense of already vulnerable democratic values, negatively reflecting on the status of Palestinians in the 1948 territory.

Ramallah: Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the Palestinian Forum for Israeli Studies (MADAR) organised a seminar, titled The Palestinian Culture in the 1948 Territory: The Current Context, Challenges and Prospects in Ramallah yesterday. In this seminar, participants recommended that the current forms of cultural cooperation between Palestinians on both sides of the Green Line be enhanced. Cultural cooperation needs to be institutionalised so that it is no longer seasonal, but serves as an essential part of institutional programmes. To illustrate a case of real cultural partnership, cooperation will ensure developing joint projects, exchanging art performances, networking, recruiting support and building a database.
